Volos is located in the region of Central Greece, almost in the middle of the Athens-Thessaloniki route. It is one of the largest cities in Greece and has a large port, which is the main passage to the Sporades islands (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos).
Volos has a beautiful promenade, which is an ideal choice for those who want to walk by the sea, enjoying the view. Also, in Volos you can find the famous tsipouro restaurants, where the visitor has the opportunity to experience the tsipouro "mystagogy" accompanied by all kinds of seafood (known as "mezedes"), which arrive at the table with each additional round (known as "gyra").
In the city center, there is the Athanasakeion Archaeological Museum of Volos, where the visitor can admire archaeological finds from the settlements of the Neolithic and Mycenaean eras in Sesklo and Dimini, which are equally accessible -just a 20 minute drive from Volos- and definitely worth a visit.
